Time Pass

Classes these days, the few that do take place, are boring.
Philology, which goes without saying, just IS.
And Scansion is boring, because...well, I can’t do it.

My question is, why anyone would need to study either of them. No one is going to be asked to scan a passage, in any corner of the world, or discuss the Greek, Latin, French or whatever other country’s influence on the English language, unless you’re planning to teach them to unsuspecting students.

Right now, I’m trying/pretending to study, which basically means there’s a couple of Google tabs open. But all I can think about is a bunch of things I really want to do.

I want to go to New Market and shop, for ribbons, lingerie, food and clothes.
I want to be a pro at 29.
I want to go to Princep Ghat and just hang out.
I want to go sit on a beach, with my hair open, the sand under me, and feel the water lapping at my toes.
I want to ride a bike, a really fast one, and feel the wind in my face.
I want to roam around Park Street at 2am in the night.
I want to stick my head outside a car window, and leave my tongue hanging out like a dog.
I want to stop thinking about that one guy, and just figure out whether I like him or not.
I want to be tall, and have bigger feet, and to not fit into clothes from the kids section.
I want to have enough money to buy all the books I want.
And the time to read them.
I want to learn to figure skate, and to ballroom dance.
I want to climb a tree again, and sit on a branch, while I dangle my legs.
I want to stand in the rain and dance.
I want to be as pretty as Leighton Meester.
I want to eat all I want, and not worry about growing fat.
I want classmates I can talk to.
I want to be able to write as well as my friends.
I want to stop feeling so goddamned lonely all the time.

I have exams in two weeks.
I will go study now.

Loose Ends

“Oh I really wanted that thing
I just want to sing
I love you baby
Won't you bring
All the flowers you
Find out in the garden
Don't tell me the truth
That your heart has hardened.”
                                    --Mirah
                                       “The Garden”

So, this friend of mine started dating this guy a couple of days ago. A couple of them hooked up four months ago, and two months ago respectively. Another has had six boyfriends in the six months that I’ve known her. And this other girl…screw this.
What I mean is, quite a few of my friends have started dating.

What’s the one thing that is common to all of them..?

They’re all in love.

The mushy type, where they go all googly eyed, and start passing lame ass cheesy comments, then start turning up w/ hickeys after going missing for quite a certain period of time.
I mean, I get it. You’re 19, and you have needs.
Or possibly, enough sexual energy to power a small Midwestern town.
Get it out.

I also want to be in love.
The actual thing.
Say “I love You” and mean it.

Contrary to the beliefs of a couple of friends, I don’t need a fling. I can do w/out one.

This is why I shouldn’t read romance novels.
:|

And I want erokom Love Story. Booth-Brennan type.
I like couples that leave everyone guessing.
*sighs*

Cookies and Ice cream anyone..?

Every time..

Every new beginning,
comes from some beginnings end.

Every time you kill me,
I am born again.

Every time you close that door,
Another door is opened.

And every time you say goodbye,
a different word is spoken.

Every time you look at me
my back is facing you,

And every time you ask to see me
I'll have something else to do.

Every time I join your game,
You're not playing fair,

And every time I really love you,
I pretend that I don't care.

Bringing out the Wild in You..

A lot happened this week end..
Swarnakutika turned 19..
and Rani Salkant chose her to-be husband..
And one of the most unthinkable events took place..
My friend Anandi Roop unleashed her inner animal..

I always thought the 'inner bad girl' was one of the most cliched sayings ever. Having studied in an all girls school for the last 14 years, I've seen good girls stay good, bad girls stay bad..and girls who are both good and bad..
*Yes, they exist..they're just smart enough and never get caught*

So, basically, my friend brought out her wild side and tore into a piece of chocolate with an energy so feral that it left the rest of us gaping at her..
*this is the girl who is scared of animals..ALL animals..even cats*
Needless to say her boyfriend didn't mind..he enjoyed her inner animal and commented that he was responsible for it..Our respect for Aussie Brajagopal has subsequently gone up really high..I didn't know a boy could bring about such change in my friends, especially Anandi, who was such a goofy 'lil kid..

Another very 'important' day passed us by..
Friendship Day..
A bit of an ironic day for me..considering one of my oldest friends has forgotten our friendship..
but I made new friends..amazing ones too..as well as renewed my friendship with another friend..

So,
to Swarnakutika- Happy Birthday..!
to Anandi- Keep the Wild alive..!
to Aussie- Dude..wtf man..?
to Rani- jug jug jiyo..phulo phalo..
to the rest of the world- Happy Friendship Week..!

*the names have been changed on request*
