Things that make me Happy..!

I am supposed to be writing an article for my department’s wall magazine. I stared at a blank screen for a long time, wrote the article, and then realized I overshot the word limit by over a 1000 words.

I can’t write anything else, and I have to put in something. This is just plain irritating.

Feeling the way I do, right now, which is really really crappy, I decided to do something that always makes me happier.

Make a list.

Things that make me happy:
1.       Sunshine.
2.       Pretty undies.
3.       The smell of rain.

Time Pass

Classes these days, the few that do take place, are boring.
Philology, which goes without saying, just IS.
And Scansion is boring, because...well, I can’t do it.

My question is, why anyone would need to study either of them. No one is going to be asked to scan a passage, in any corner of the world, or discuss the Greek, Latin, French or whatever other country’s influence on the English language, unless you’re planning to teach them to unsuspecting students.

Right now, I’m trying/pretending to study, which basically means there’s a couple of Google tabs open. But all I can think about is a bunch of things I really want to do.

I want to go to New Market and shop, for ribbons, lingerie, food and clothes.
I want to be a pro at 29.
I want to go to Princep Ghat and just hang out.
I want to go sit on a beach, with my hair open, the sand under me, and feel the water lapping at my toes.
I want to ride a bike, a really fast one, and feel the wind in my face.
I want to roam around Park Street at 2am in the night.
I want to stick my head outside a car window, and leave my tongue hanging out like a dog.
I want to stop thinking about that one guy, and just figure out whether I like him or not.
I want to be tall, and have bigger feet, and to not fit into clothes from the kids section.
I want to have enough money to buy all the books I want.
And the time to read them.
I want to learn to figure skate, and to ballroom dance.
I want to climb a tree again, and sit on a branch, while I dangle my legs.
I want to stand in the rain and dance.
I want to be as pretty as Leighton Meester.
I want to eat all I want, and not worry about growing fat.
I want classmates I can talk to.
I want to be able to write as well as my friends.
I want to stop feeling so goddamned lonely all the time.

I have exams in two weeks.
I will go study now.

Loose Ends

“Oh I really wanted that thing
I just want to sing
I love you baby
Won't you bring
All the flowers you
Find out in the garden
Don't tell me the truth
That your heart has hardened.”
                                    --Mirah
                                       “The Garden”

So, this friend of mine started dating this guy a couple of days ago. A couple of them hooked up four months ago, and two months ago respectively. Another has had six boyfriends in the six months that I’ve known her. And this other girl…screw this.
What I mean is, quite a few of my friends have started dating.

What’s the one thing that is common to all of them..?

They’re all in love.

The mushy type, where they go all googly eyed, and start passing lame ass cheesy comments, then start turning up w/ hickeys after going missing for quite a certain period of time.
I mean, I get it. You’re 19, and you have needs.
Or possibly, enough sexual energy to power a small Midwestern town.
Get it out.

I also want to be in love.
The actual thing.
Say “I love You” and mean it.

Contrary to the beliefs of a couple of friends, I don’t need a fling. I can do w/out one.

This is why I shouldn’t read romance novels.
:|

And I want erokom Love Story. Booth-Brennan type.
I like couples that leave everyone guessing.
*sighs*

Cookies and Ice cream anyone..?

I'm Fine..

Rain rain go away,
Come again another day,
All the world is waiting for the sun..

Is it you I want,
Or just the notion
Of a heart to wrap around so I can find my way around..

Safe to say from here,
Your getting closer now,
We are never sad cause we are not allowed to be..

                                                                    "Rain"

For the first time since I can remember, I hate the rain. It feels like it's beating down on me and just yelling at me to break down. In fact, I'm so tired right now that I don't even feel like typing. But I will.

Because I'm Fine.
If I keep telling myself that all the time, I will be.
Because that's how it works.
Because I can't Cry.
Because I'm Strong.
Because I have people to take care of.
Because I'm Fine.

But what if I need you, baby,
Would you even try to save me..?
Or would you find a lame excuse to never be true..
What if I said I loved you,
Would you be the one to run to..?
Or would you watch me walk away without a fight..?

Every time..

Every new beginning,
comes from some beginnings end.

Every time you kill me,
I am born again.

Every time you close that door,
Another door is opened.

And every time you say goodbye,
a different word is spoken.

Every time you look at me
my back is facing you,

And every time you ask to see me
I'll have something else to do.

Every time I join your game,
You're not playing fair,

And every time I really love you,
I pretend that I don't care.

You..

Every time I see your face and
Every time you smile,
Every time I want to kiss your lips,
My love grows all the while.

You leave me wanting nothing more
than wanting more of you.

Beautiful Night..

A beautiful night's a beautiful night
My happiness came like sand in the wind
Oh I think I saw a little poem
Falling off a star…
Oh, I think I saw it
Choosing your eyes as a place to spend time…
Shall I go for a smile?
Shall I keep this to myself?
But I would share it with you,
If you could understand…

Baskets and Betrayals..

She enters the almost electrically charged concrete arena--excited and hopeful. The players are all done up in 'black and white', all ready to score. She watches as the players preen and prepare the area..eagerly waiting for the games to start (after all, the captain was her friend)..

*She wears high heels, I wear sneakers
She's cheer captain and I'm on the bleachers
Dreaming bout the day when you'll wake up and find
That what you're lookin for has been here the whole time*
Her face falls, as once again, she's the last to be picked for the teams..but this time, she isn't picked at all. She waits for some of the other players to arrive, because she's tired of being on the bleachers on her own, and alone. The captain is pissed off because some of her 'best' players aren't there yet..and probably won't be coming. She asks to be allowed to play, but is brushed aside..maybe she doesn't fit, or maybe she's just not 'close' enough to what the captain needs..

She waits for the game to begin, and watches as another 'experienced' player saunters in. His cocky demeanour has always intrigued her and once again, she wonders, what it would be like, to be Him-- smooth, suave and so comfortable in his own skin.. She's left stunned, as every other player, even the captain, gives him way to lead the game, to mold it to his liking..and once again he leaves her wondering--How..? Is there ever a moment of indecision behind those confident eyes..? Is there ever a stagger behind that cool swagger..?

*How can I decide what’s right,
When you’re clouding up my mind..?
There is something I see in you
It might kill me
I want it to be true*
His eyes fall on his target-- this time its a newbie-- one he's never seen before. He takes his shot--
and leaves it hanging..

She shrugs him off and renews her wait for the game. Half time arrives, and the players replenish themselves. The pseudo game even comes to an end.. and the 'tired' players trudge home. She wonders why she's dressed in the team colours if she's not even going to play..and realises the game ended without her even noticing..

*All the little pieces falling, shatter.
Shards of me,
Too sharp to put back together.
Too small to matter,
But big enough to cut me into so many little pieces.*
Late at night, as she sits and wonders why she even wastes her time at these games, her friend calls.. Her friend might get 'invited' to a later game by a certain 'cute' player.. She closes her eyes, smiles and realises just why she continues to go to the games..

And then, she looks down at the empty seat next to her, sighs heavily, and wonders when she'll get to play. And she wonders if she'll find the player whose moves she could match, who'll laugh at her while she fumbles and then hold her and show her how to play..

The wind whips her hair about her face, as she looks off into the darkness, wiping away the sole tear that cuts its jagged path down her cheek..

She still waits for the game to start..
