Shiny Happy People

A good game can have us all on the edge of our seats. Games are all about the glory, pain and the play by play. And then there are the more solitary games. The games we play all by ourselves.
The social games.
The mind games.
We use them to pass the time to make life more interesting, to distract us from what's really going on. There are those of us who love to play games, any games.
And there are those of us who love to play a little too much.

The thing about them is, they play too well.  Who they hurt and how, is not important.
The game itself sometimes isn’t.
What did you gain by playing this one?
Did you exchange
A walk on part in the war,
For a lead role in a cage?

I don’t blame you though.
Some people are just broken. I’ll try not to care too much and I can't be disappointed.
I have just one question though.
How long have you been this empty?

I’ll never tell you what you did to me.
And you can take back your words, your lies and your memories.
I don’t need them anymore.
I’m ending us here,  and starting again.

There is no pain, you are receding.
A distant ship's smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move, but I can’t hear what you’re saying.

You’re just another nameless, faceless person on the street now.
You are nothing to me, because I am nothing to you.
